EHS Safety Manager – Savannah, GA

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

[Environmental facility management] 

• Manage environment permits and compliance activities. (Air permit, Pretreatment, NPDES, SID)  
• Conducts permitting review applicability of maintenance project 
• Environment inspections and audits 
• Environment incident investigations and verifies implementation of corrective action 
• Maintain environmental testing equipment and sampling data from various sources. 
• Managing Environment strategy budgets 
• Performs statistical analysis, prepares reports, maintains appropriate compliance records and files required documents with various regulatory agencies within stated deadlines 
• Establish safety management plan for new plant construction and installation of manufacturing facilities  
• Providing information for Workers Compensation requests (incident investigations) 
• Advise, develop, and facilitate safety training to new shop floor employees and supervisors 
• Identify and develop good working relationships with federal, state, and local authorities (i.e., safety agencies, fire departments, etc.)  
• Establish and conduct health and safety procedures and process and implement ISO45001  
• Develop and implement Health and Safety programs and activities for the facility to achieve, maintain and exceed compliance with relevant regulatory laws and regulations as well as comply with HMC standards and procedures 
• Reinforce safe work practices with team leaders and Team Members 
• Manage health and safety strategy budgets 
• Work with team leaders and manufacturing engineering team & shop operation team to resolve safety issues in all areas  
• Participate in investigations and root cause analysis of incidents; facilitate the completion of reports; analyze incidents to identify trends; implement corrective actions; assure lessons learned are shared and preventive actions are closed and documented. 
• Develop and conduct effective and appropriate health & safety training and assure compliance with regulatory training requirements. 
• Operate medical center; manage agreement with health service corporate and cooperate with a health service corporate 
• Establish long and short-term health and safety strategy plan

• Develops environment management systems to ensure compliance with environmental regulations. (ISO14001) 
• Interacts with the plant personnel and company management to communicate environmental requirements, identifies compliance issues, implements compliance requirements, and acts as a technical resource 
• Acts as the interface between management and regulatory agencies (local, state, and federal) in resolving major environmental issues 
• Provides leadership, guidance, and technical support to operations management.  
• Provides training to plant personnel on key environmental issues, environmental requirements, and compliance 
• Prepares and manages contracts with suppliers and consultants for the PJT and routine activities 
• Works independently with outside consultants, contractors, and legal council 
• Establish long and short-term environment management strategy plan  

Qualifications & Preferences 

Minimum: 

• Bachelor’s degree in in Chemical or Environmental Engineering or related field 
• 10+ years of job-related experience.  
• Experience to establish and operate environment procedures based on ISO14001  
• Proficient in MS Office products. 
• Excellent written and verbal communication, analytical, problem solving and human relations skills

Risk and Disaster Preparedness Specialist – Savannah, GA

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

• Conduct comprehensive risk assessments to identify potential hazards and vulnerabilities specific to the manufacturing environment. 

• Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies and action plans to prevent and mitigate the impact of disasters and disruptions. 

• Establish business continuity plans (BCPs) to ensure critical business functions can continue during and after disruptive events. 

• Collaborate with key stakeholders to identify critical dependencies and develop strategies for maintaining operations during interruptions. 

• Serve as a key member of the crisis management team, providing expertise and guidance during crisis situations. 

• Facilitate timely and effective communication with internal teams, stakeholders, and external agencies during emergencies. 

• Oversee high risk job hazard assessments and associated permits to work  

• Coordinate with relevant departments to conduct regular drills and exercises to test the effectiveness of BCP/ERPs and enhance response capabilities. 

• Monitor industry trends, best practices, and regulatory requirements related to disaster preparedness and business continuity. 

• Evaluate the readiness of critical infrastructure and technology systems to withstand and recover from disasters, including IT systems, utilities, and production equipment.

Qualifications & Preferences  

Minimum:  

• Bachelor’s degree in business continuity, risk management, or safety-related field. 

• 3+ years of job-related experience. (Manufacturing plant experience)  

• Proven experience in disaster preparedness, emergency management, or business continuity, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial setting. 

• Strong written and verbal communication, analytical, problem solving and human relations skills 

• Able to present complex issues in a concise manner 

• Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess complex situations and make informed decisions under pressure. 

• Experience completing a Business Impact Assessment BIA

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Develop and implement programs that ensure compliance with all environmental, health and safety requirements arising from federal, state, and local regulations.
• Serve as a leader in the company and mentor others to get involved in supporting EHS initiatives, including the EHS Committee and daily interactions with site  departments to promote safe work activities.
• Maintain and promote EHS policies, develop and implement a plan that ensures training is performed to meet or exceed state and federal requirements.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate EHS considerations into all aspects of operations.
• Communicate EHS policies and procedures to all employees. Be the Subject Matter Expert for the site in regard to all environmental, safety and health requirements and BestPractices.

• Maintain all required safety, accident, and environmental records and documentation.
• Conduct risk assessments and develop strategies to mitigate potential hazards.
• Oversee the proper handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous materials and waste.
• Implement waste reduction initiatives to minimize environmental impact.
• Conduct environmental and safety compliance inspections and compile/report data to state and federal agencies. Maintain the OSHA 300 logs as required.
• Ensure and maintain site emergency response and contingency plans.
• Participates in and serves as the point person for all OSHA and EPA inspections, providing inspectors with appropriate documents and identifying safety measures. Keeps the site leadership updated and involved in all interactions with these agencies.

• Verify that safety equipment such as PPE, forklifts, overhead
cranes, hearing protection, machine guarding, are available and in proper condition for use.
• Conduct routine inspections, including but not limited to inspections of fire extinguishers, eye wash stations, machine guards, warehousing racks, grounds etc. as needed.
• Participate in EHS monthly meetings with site and corporate personnel as requested.
Develop and communicate an EHS Scorecard to drive performance improvements.
• Perform other related duties as necessary or assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor’s degree, Occupational Health and Safety, Engineering or a related field;
advanced degree or CSP/CIH certification is a plus and will be considered.
• 5+ years' experience in the EHS field in a manufacturing environment, preferred.
• Must have leadership experience with managing air and water permits, along with
hazardous waste disposal, including compliance oversight and employee
training/documentation.
• Knowledge of safety and environmental regulations and consensus standards (OSHA, EPA, Workers' Compensation), inspection procedures, audits, hazard reviews, incident prevention, and incident investigation techniques.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency in the use of computers with knowledge of MS office products including
Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
• Ability to meet multiple deadlines, as applicable.
